Oriental Whipsnake a rare yellow colour morph

common and fascinating snake species found in the lush forests of Khao Sok National Park. This slender, green snake is well-camouflaged among the leaves and branches of trees and shrubs, making it difficult to spot.

The Oriental Whipsnake is known for its elongated body, which can reach lengths of up to 2 meters, and its distinctive pointed snout.

This species is arboreal, meaning it spends most of its time in trees, where it hunts small prey such as lizards, frogs, and birds. The Oriental Whipsnake has excellent vision, which it uses to detect movement and strike at its prey with precision. Despite its slender appearance, it is a skilled hunter.

The snake's green coloration allows it to blend seamlessly with the foliage, providing it with both protection from predators and an advantage when ambushing prey. Its movement is smooth and graceful, often seen gliding through the branches as it navigates the dense vegetation of the rainforest.

In Khao Sok National Park, visitors may encounter the Oriental Whipsnake while walking through the forest trails, especially during the day when the snake is active. Although it is mildly venomous, the Oriental Whipsnake is not dangerous to humans. Its venom is primarily used to subdue its prey, and bites to humans are rare and usually only occur if the snake feels threatened.

The Oriental Whipsnake is a remarkable example of the diverse reptile life that thrives in the rich ecosystem of Khao Sok National Park. Its presence adds to the park's reputation as a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.
